Czech Republic to host Iranian ‘Tonight’s Homework’

Iranian doc ‘Tonight’s Homework’ is to compete at the Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

Iranian documentary ‘Tonight’s Homework’ has been selected to compete at the 2022 edition of the Zlin Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

‘Tonight’s Homework’, co-directed by Ashkan Nejati and Mehran Nematollahi, will be screened at the 62nd edition of the festival.

In the film, the directors of the documentary, repeat questions, asked by Iran’s prominent director Abbas Kiarostami in his 1989 film ‘Homework’, to students at a state school, including questions about homework, punishments, and dreams for the future, to see how the society has changed.

The documentary has participated in several international festivals including the Iranian Film Festival of Zurich in Switzerland, the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam in the Netherlands, the Ljublijana Documentary Film Festival in Slovenia, and the Istanbul Film Festival in Turkey.

According to the official website of the Zlin Film Festival, “it is the oldest and largest film festival of its kind in the world. Each year the festival presents around 300 films from more than 50 countries around the world.”

The 2022 edition of the event will be held on May 25-June 1.
